Rebeka, the muse of my Cat Art

I had a black cat Rebeka, who inspired me to create my Collection of Cat Art called Cats of Karavella. She was not only my furry pet friend, but also my muse, and till today I am sharing her memories with my fans and followers.

When I was invited by Cara Imperato, that she will start a new series in her blog of Kitty Curator, and she would like to honour me to be the first Cat Artist she writes about, I didn’t hesitate for a second.

While I was searching for suitable photographs for her article, I remembered, and relived a big part of my life. Her questions brought up memories, sweet ones, happy ones, and difficult times, because in fact we are talking about 16 years from my existence.

The post came out awesome, and summarise my relation with my Muse, Rebeka.

You can read her post about us titled Artist Dora Hathazi Mendes and Her Muse, Rebeka the Cat . I hope you will enjoy it, and also the Blog of Kitty Curator , who wanders the world-wide web in search of cat inspired art and handmade goods help us Cat Artists to be discovered, and connect to the World.

Here I am …

Here I am..

Eager to share with you my Cat Art, my story, my journey, and bit of everything. Thinking how should I do it right, to introduce the Art of Cats of Karavella.

What is for sure, every start is difficult, but hopefully I will have the hang of it, and figure it out for our benefit.

And again, here I am, and here is my Black Angel Rebeka, the reason why I am here. I think she would be proud, or puzzled, or just indifferent. Or she would be just purring at my side, and wouldn’t mind me writing, in case I do not move, for her stay to comfy in my lap. Unfortunately she is not with me anymore physically, but I know still she will help me in this.

Rebeka

Lot of ideas, lot of things to share, so I believe I will just jump in, and do not think too much.

In my Cats of Karavella Blog I would like to focus mainly on my Cat Inspired Artwork Collection, which contains my most known, and bestseller Cat Art, and everything which cause my fascination for these gorgeous, sophisticated animals. But also you will have a glimpse about other artworks of mine, and a part of my life and journey, in nutshell everything from behind the scenes.

Wish me luck!
And thank you for being with me, and encouraging me, for the future feedback, and thumb ups!

For now that’s all, or if you are so eager to know more, visit the Website of Dora Hathazi Mendes. or My Cat Art Store Cats Of Karavella.

Thank You!

About Me

About me

CATS AND ART BY DORA HATHAZI MENDES. CAT ART AND CAT PAINTINGS FROM MY CAT INSPIRED ARTWORK COLLECTION of the Karavella Atelier, AND RELATED PRODUCTS FROM MY CATS OF KARAVELLA STORE.

Welcome Visitor! I am glad that You found Me and my Cat Art here!

First of all let me introduce myself. I graduated at Moholy Nagy University of Art and Design MOME Budapest, Hungary in 2002 as Textile Designer specialized in handwoven textiles. After the University I was working as a freelance designer, produced hand woven textiles, blinds, cushions for private customers using an antic loom originated from Finland.

Soon meanwhile of emerging deeply in my creative activity, I established family and accompanied my husband in abroad and lived during 10 years in 4 different countries (Bucharest-Romania, Warsaw- Poland, Sta Cruz-Portugal, Lilongwe- Malawi ) having children and seeking for inspiration.

As my loom would have been too big to take it with me I started to paint again, and to take photographs during the journey about everything what came across while encountering with different cultures. My main inspiration was my cat, as well other animals, wildlife, nature, and historical buildings, landscape, people, etc. In my paintings I prefer bright, vibrant colours, and drew inspiration from the organic and geometric forms, and motives and angular contours of Art Nouveau Movement.

In my Blog I would like to focus mainly on my Cat Inspired Artwork Collection, which contains my most known, and bestseller Cat Art, and everything which cause my fascination for these gorgeous, sophisticated animals.
