Love Is In The Air - Cat Art

A lovely and cheerful ecoline painting about a ginger cat in rainbow socks looking up to the dance of mating colourful birds.

The red cat is surrounded with motifs of Italian Art Deco illustration from the end of the XIX. Century, and sitting on green leaves, which is a decorative pattern from a XX. Century book illustration from the Netherlands. The original cat painting is the part of my Cats of Karavella Collection.

The original artwork will reveal a gorgeous surprise to its future owner, as the grey parts of the painting is made by silver paint, which will add a wonderful effect, as walking live in front of the painting, the silver parts will brightly pop out, and will give an additional movement to the artwork. Hearts and Tails - Cat Art

A thank you message with two lovely cats eating from their food bowls, in front of a giant red heart. The black and white tuxedo cat, and the white cat curling together their tails, symbolise their unity and brotherhood.

Decorated with an Art Deco Flower motif from a XIX. Century English book illustration. This painting was inspired by a photograph of one of my dear collector, a lovely image about his cats, the tuxedo Oliver and the recently adopted white cat, Mr. Hoover peacefully eating together.

Peek A Boo Siamese Cat

Peek A Boo Siamese Cat. Watercolor painting by Dora Hathazi Mendes, from the Cats of Karavella Collection.

Recently I started to experiment with my new White Nights watercolor set, and this Siamese cat painting is one of the result, I am really pleased with. This painting in fact is not following the Style of the Cats of Karavella Collection, because for those I normally use Ecoline brilliant liquid watercolor, and has a different way of appreciating cats decorating the background with Art Deco motifs, and so on. This artwork more realistic with its lush green leaves, and I had great pleasure to create it.

My Brother From Another Mother - Cat Art

My Brother From Another Mother. Cat painting by Dora Hathazi Mendes, from the Cats of Karavella Collection.

What happen if a mouse and a cat meet? Usually nothing nice right? But in my paintings, everything is possible.

My Brother From Another Mother, a charming, whimsical white cat painting, an unlikely friendly encounter of a tattooed white cat and a mouse, appeared to be the best buddies of the World. The are decorated with little pink flowers, and green leaves, in front of a geometric pattern English Art Deco style stained glass window from around 1920. My newest addition for the Cats of Karavella Collection.

Cheer Up My Friend - Cat Art by Cats of Karavella

Cheer Up My Friend, Cat Art by Dora Hathazi Mendes from the Cats of Karavella Collection.

I made this rainbow inspired cat painting, before I knew that later on I will have special significance to this beautiful natural phenomena, as I didn’t know that one day I will have a rainbow child. I experienced that very heavy storm, and long pouring rain to have my sunshine, so this cheerful painting always will have a special part in my heart.

Cheer Up My Friend - Cat Art by Dora Hathazi Mendes

“It takes both rain and sunshine to make a rainbow!” says the proverb, so cheer up my friend! A happy cat trying to change the mood of her grumpy cat friend, on a top of an enormous flower, in front of hand painted mosaic motif, which symbolise the rainbow.

Pretty Me In Tuxedo - Cat Art by Cats of Karavella

Pretty My In Tuxedo. Cat Art by Dora Hathazi Mendes, from the Cats of Karavella Collection.

A brand new painting from the Cats of Karavella Collection paying tribute for tuxedo cats.

As I mentioned before, I have special feelings towards tuxedo cats. As a child, we had two feral cats, I can say with the most common patterns, at least in Hungary. One was a very tamed brown tabby called Mili, and the other called Miska who was an extremely wild tuxedo. We loved them both very much, but I was always wondering as a little kid, what could be his problem that he never let us not only to stroke him, but to touch him. We didn't have any contact with him, he just came for the daily milk portion, and brought us sometimes a mouse or a bird, but he was so wild, we never even could tell him thank you, most of the time he just ran away :)

Pretty Me In Tuxedo - Cat Art by Dora Hathazi Mendes

Pretty Me In Tuxedo, is a bright coloured mixture of a lovely cat and floral patterns, ideal present and gift idea for tuxedo cat lovers. Ecoline painting with bold colours, about a black and white cat or in other name tuxedo cat sitting front of a English Stained glass window with orchid from around 1920. Black and red background a detail from a American stencil pattern from the first years of the XX Century, and on the ground green leaves, details from an Italian Illustration from the end of the XIX. Century.

The inspiration for this cat painting came from a handsome tuxedo cat called Oliver, who has an Instagram account @olivervampirekitty. He is one of my collector, and follower at @cats_of_karavella .
He is not only a gorgeous black and white kitty, but has great affection for bags, and also for red color, that is why I choose for the background red with black motifs, to fit nicely to the tuxedo markings.

Cat Art titled Dreaming About by Dora Hathazi Mendes, from the Cats of Karavella Collection .

“If there were to be an universal sound depicting peace, I would surely vote for the purr.” Quote by Barbara L. Diamond.

Dreaming About - Cat Art by Dora Hathazi Mendes

A whimsical, orange, blue and white colored painting about a peacefully sleeping striped cat front of decorated background in the style of the Art Deco stained glass windows. The white-blue striped tabby is surrounded by painted silver mosaic, dots, and a question mark which gave  the title, what is she dreaming about?
The Dreaming About painting suggests a calm atmosphere; it is ideal decoration to room of children for instance.

Here I am …

Here I am..

Eager to share with you my Cat Art, my story, my journey, and bit of everything. Thinking how should I do it right, to introduce the Art of Cats of Karavella.

What is for sure, every start is difficult, but hopefully I will have the hang of it, and figure it out for our benefit.

And again, here I am, and here is my Black Angel Rebeka, the reason why I am here. I think she would be proud, or puzzled, or just indifferent. Or she would be just purring at my side, and wouldn’t mind me writing, in case I do not move, for her stay to comfy in my lap. Unfortunately she is not with me anymore physically, but I know still she will help me in this.

Rebeka

Lot of ideas, lot of things to share, so I believe I will just jump in, and do not think too much.

In my Cats of Karavella Blog I would like to focus mainly on my Cat Inspired Artwork Collection, which contains my most known, and bestseller Cat Art, and everything which cause my fascination for these gorgeous, sophisticated animals. But also you will have a glimpse about other artworks of mine, and a part of my life and journey, in nutshell everything from behind the scenes.

Wish me luck!
And thank you for being with me, and encouraging me, for the future feedback, and thumb ups!

For now that’s all, or if you are so eager to know more, visit the Website of Dora Hathazi Mendes. or My Cat Art Store Cats Of Karavella.
