Peek A Boo Siamese Cat
Peek A Boo Siamese Cat. Watercolor painting by Dora Hathazi Mendes, from the Cats of Karavella Collection.
Recently I started to experiment with my new White Nights watercolor set, and this Siamese cat painting is one of the result, I am really pleased with. This painting in fact is not following the Style of the Cats of Karavella Collection, because for those I normally use Ecoline brilliant liquid watercolor, and has a different way of appreciating cats decorating the background with Art Deco motifs, and so on. This artwork more realistic with its lush green leaves, and I had great pleasure to create it.

The Peek A Boo Siamese Cat painting is available from the Official Website of Dora Hathazi Mendes as high quality wide variety of prints ( canvas, acrylic, framed, wood, metal etc ) and related products such as home decor, apparel, etc. with Worldwide Shipping. And I must say it is fitting really nicely on the several products. I am in love with the duvet, the tote and the pillows at least, but the round beach towel is absolutely lovely too!

Legend of the Siamese - Cat Art
Legend of the Siamese, Cat Art by Dora Hathazi Mendes, from the Cats of Karavella Collection.
Once upon a time, an Eastern princess of Siam went to her daily bath to a lake. As usual, she was accompanied by her favourite cat, a Siamese. Because she was worrying for losing her ring, she placed it into the tail of the cat. The cat bended his tail for preventing the ring to fall off, and gradually over the years the tail of the Siamese Cat became with a permanent kink.
By the tale the Siamese cats were highly appreciated for their kinked tail, but today considered as a fault of the breed. On my whimsical painting I used freely the attributes of the Siamese, because one of their uniqueness is the sky blue eyes, and point coloration. Other eye colours are more typical for Orient Cats which breed practically have Siamese body and soul with different fur pattern and eye colour. My siamese cats have yellow eyes, green striped fur, golden dotted tails, and they are sitting graciously front of red background, and surrounded by a hand painted frame in Art Deco style.

Pretty Me In Tuxedo - Cat Art by Cats of Karavella
Pretty My In Tuxedo. Cat Art by Dora Hathazi Mendes, from the Cats of Karavella Collection.
A brand new painting from the Cats of Karavella Collection paying tribute for tuxedo cats.
As I mentioned before, I have special feelings towards tuxedo cats. As a child, we had two feral cats, I can say with the most common patterns, at least in Hungary. One was a very tamed brown tabby called Mili, and the other called Miska who was an extremely wild tuxedo. We loved them both very much, but I was always wondering as a little kid, what could be his problem that he never let us not only to stroke him, but to touch him. We didn't have any contact with him, he just came for the daily milk portion, and brought us sometimes a mouse or a bird, but he was so wild, we never even could tell him thank you, most of the time he just ran away :)

| Pretty Me In Tuxedo - Cat Art by Dora Hathazi Mendes |
Pretty Me In Tuxedo, is a bright coloured mixture of a lovely cat and floral patterns, ideal present and gift idea for tuxedo cat lovers. Ecoline painting with bold colours, about a black and white cat or in other name tuxedo cat sitting front of a English Stained glass window with orchid from around 1920. Black and red background a detail from a American stencil pattern from the first years of the XX Century, and on the ground green leaves, details from an Italian Illustration from the end of the XIX. Century.
He is not only a gorgeous black and white kitty, but has great affection for bags, and also for red color, that is why I choose for the background red with black motifs, to fit nicely to the tuxedo markings.

The cats are in all different patterns, such as striped, floral, dotted, checked, in front of densely decorated background in the idea of “horror vacui” which in visual art mean the fear of the empty, thus filling of the entire surface of the artwork with details. For example, bronze mosaic, organic ornaments, floral motifs, star, dots, silver and black chess filed, and a silhouette of a cat head.

Chocolate Delight - Cat Art by Cats of Karavella
Cat Art titled Chocolate Delight by Dora Hathazi Mendes, from the Cats of Karavella Collection.
A cat painting about a magnificent cat type, the Havana Brown, which is originated from England, and was a result of planned breeding of Siamese and Domestic Black Cat.
The breed enthusiasts often call this gorgeous cats with the rich, warm colour as Chocolate Delights. My cat painting representing the elegance and gracefulness of this animal, which is sitting front of a decorated and framed background of Belgian Art Nouveau motifs, on a top of blue and white checked pattern surface.
The painting is the part of my Cat Inspired Artwork Collection. The silver G letter is for Gato, the Portuguese name for Cat, but can stand for any monogram, as a lovely present for cat lover friends or relatives, whose name start with G.
